The GLGC stimulates the knowledge and love of gardening; aids in the protection of native trees, birds and plants; and participates in community beautification and conservation efforts, while spending time with friends, old and new. Our members are almost completely from the three townships which encompass Glen Lake (Empire, Glen Arbor, and Maple City).
Our major projects include: Cleaning up the stretch of M-109 between M-22 and the turn-off to Glen Haven; Planting and maintaining the plants at the Glen Arbor Garden; the Township Hall, Glen Arbor Township Park, and the barrels located around the business district. We care for plants at the Glen Lake Library and in the Old Settler’s Park Meadow Garden. Also, we decorate the bridge between Big and Little Glen lakes with holiday greens.
We meet on the third Tuesday of the month during the fall, winter, and spring. The meetings start at 12:30 pm with the speaker/program at 1:00 pm. Most meetings are held at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church. Guests are welcome at meetings, garden tours, field trips, work bees, and at our June luncheon.
