Raku Firing

As part of the Northern Home + Table exhibition at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor, exhibiting potter John Huston will conduct a raku firing on Sunday, Aug. 7, 1 p.m. on the gallery’s side yard. Raku is an ancient Japanese method of firing clay objects using natural materials — paper, dried vegetation – to fuel the fire. A raku firing is underscored by centuries of tradition and ritual, making it a full-senses experience.
