Pop-Up Exhibition + Artist Demos
Saturday, September 19, 10 am – 2 pm | Rain Date: Sunday, September 20
FALL OUT!, a pop-up gallery and day of artists demonstrations, takes place at the Glen Arbor Arts Center on September 19, 10 am – 2 pm. The Pop-Up Exhibition + Artist Demo is an opportunity to watch studio artists demonstrating how they work and create – part of the GAAC’s 6ft Apart Art series. They’ll be showing some wares, too. Come meet, talk and watch. Free. The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.
Participating artists will demonstrate:
Margo Burian, painter. Acrylic painting techniques.
Lauren Everett-Finn, painter. Flower paintings created on top of layered, colorful underpaintings.
John Huston, potter. A live firing using the ancient Japanese technique of raku.
Bill Perkins, furnituremaker. How to apply birch bark to a rustic table top, and bent willow chair-making methods.
Joan Richmond, painter. Painted paper, collaged constructions.
The 6ft Apart Art series is a group of activities planned for 2020 at the GAAC. It was developed in response to the challenges posed by COVID-19. Practices such as social distancing will be built into 6ft Apart Art events, and offer a safe alternative to traditional indoor art activities, such as gallery exhibitions and performance. The series will take place at the GAAC and turn the front yard and parking area into open-air exhibition venues.
