Center Gallery: Barbara Cochran/Leelanau Color and Spirit

Maple City painter Barbara Cochran shows paintings that reflect the color and spirit of Leelanau County July 7-13 at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. An artist’s reception to open this exhibition of oil paintings is Friday, July 7, 6-8 p.m.

Cochran’s Maple City home, a working farm where she and her husband, George, grow English cider apples, is surrounded by flower and vegetable gardens, which contribute to her vocabulary of iconic Leelanau images. Cochran depicts her home, the lake and the woodlands in a palette of vibrant colors and exuberant brush work.
