The Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) kicks off its 15th season of artist-in-residence presentations May 12, 7:30 p.m. at the GAAA, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. Painter Robert Ross is the first presenter, one of four artists who will participate in GAAA’s 2016 Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program.
During this two-week residency, Ross, a resident of Altamonte Springs, Florida, will create a series of paintings that explore abandoned Port Oneida farmsteads. He’ll focus on the Burfiend and Thoreson farms, examining how the homes, barns and shed built by these settlers shaped the environment and continue to shape it. Ross received his MA from the University of Michigan and maintains a full-time studio practice in Winter Park, Florida. For more information, please call 231/334-6112.
