Human hands with their dexterous, opposable thumbs have allowed us to innovate, to use tools, to become nimble, skillful, creative, and artful makers. The Glen Arbor Arts Center By Hand project is a consideration of the myriad ways in which the human hand is intrinsic to creative work; and a demonstration of what human hands can make. The By Hand project runs March 29 – May 30, 2024, and offers a range of programs that explore this theme through the visual, performing, architectural, and literary arts.
In a time of machine dominance, there is case to be made that right now is the perfect moment to celebrate making-by-hand. The By Hand project challenges this techno-centric time with these programs:
• By Hand, the exhibition, March 29 – May 30
• Coffee With the Authors | The Letter League, April 6, 1 pm
• By Hand: Architecture, April 13, 1 pm
• By Hand: Making Music, April 20, 1 pm
• By Hand: Artificial Intelligence In The Arts, May 4, 1 pm
