Orchards, historic apple varieties, and more can be discovered during a special antique apple event at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on Saturday, September 26 from noon to 4:00 p.m.
The event will be held at the Kelderhouse farm located on Port Oneida Road. The Port Oneida Rural Historic District is located along M-22, 13.1 miles north of Empire or about 3 miles north of Glen Arbor.
Guided programs will begin on the hour.
Walk the orchards with a Park Ranger, visit a “nursery,” learn about grafting with the experts, and enjoy this visual taste of history.
All public programs offered by the National Lakeshore are free. Participants need only purchase the Park Entrance Pass or have an Annual Pass displayed in their vehicle to join in the fun. This event is the perfect opportunity to “Find Your Park” in the farms of Port Oneida.
